EL ALCÁZAR

 

The Alcázar of the Christian Kings is located on the right bank of the Guadalquivir River, very close to the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba and within the area declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1994.

The Alcázar is an architectural complex made up of three elements: the military fortification itself or Alcázar Castle, practically square in shape and topped by four towers in each corner, the Alcázar Gardens, a product of the transformation of the old orchards of the complex. , which occupy an area of 55,000m² of well-kept gardens with various tree species, beautiful fountains, ponds and jets, and the perimeter Walls and Towers, which is a large space that delimits and serves as a limit between the gardens and the Guadalquivir River.

The Alcázar is a monument that represents, like no other, all the cultures and civilizations that have passed through Córdoba since the 1st century AD. C. until today, since it accumulates vestiges inside from all those times for more than 2,000 years.
